Ackers has been something of legend throughout the years and whether or not I actually remember seeing some dirtbike obstacle course there or merely envisaged such a thing as it was recounted to me I will never know.
Much like the Creation Climbing centre Ackers brings a certain amount of thrill seeking fun to the urban environment and it is easy to forget such incredible facilities exist on our door step.
My most recent trip to Ackers involved trying out ski-ing on the dry slope and I have to say it was darned near hilarious.
Apart from the obvious calamity of trying the ski lift for the first time, let's just say that between our group of ski happy family members and two rank amateurs there was laughter and suspense in equal meaure as not surprisingly rules were broken, advice ignored and fool hardy acts of one upmanship displayed until everyone had had their fill and we returned with accounts of close escapes and near misses.
For the record Ackers do ask that you declare your level of ski ability and were insistent that we followed all safety procedures, they also offer a ski teacher to anyone who isn't quite as proud as myself and another who earnt himself the name of Dangerous Dave for the day.
Still seeing one of yor mates flying down a ski slope with nothing but the air in his hood to slow him down is a priceless sight and fortunately for us we both had some sort of Guardian angel that day, for anyone who isn't quite as proud/stupid there are ski instructors available.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley B.Sutton Coldfield, Velká Británie918018021. 5. 2012První recenzent
Ackers Trust is an independent charity set up to benefit the local community in which it sits. The trust offers visitors an adventurous experience through dynamic activities such as dry slope ski and snowboarding, including a nursery slope for beginners like me. There are two climbing walls and 20 meter high tower you can climb up and abseil down or zip along the 150 meter long zip wire. There are two archery courses. The Grand Union canal runs straight through the park, the water has been cleaned up over the years making it ideal for water based activities such as canoeing and kayaking. All activities are supervised by an excellent team of staff who share years of experience to help you get the best out of your visit. It's a popular attraction for all ages from the very young seeking thrill and adventure to older groups who use the facility for team building exercises. So if you fancy a day out with a difference that won't cost a small fortune I recommend Ackers, you won't be disappointed.
