Copeland's of New Orleans

Stopped in for a quick dinner bite, straight from the airport, and was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't expecting much but the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm, and the food was delish!

Gumbo - lots of seafood, good roux flavor, and not too much okra! That's my kind of gumbo

Crab cake & shrimp Alfredo - good flavor, comes with angle hair pasta which was different, lots of good flavor.

Jambalaya pasta - smelled great! Lots of pasta, decent amount of other stuff, and great spice!

If you need a spot for a quick bite, check it out.

This place is closed. Looks like there was a fire . The place is dark; and there is roof damage.

Would NOT recommend stopping here.

The gumbo appetizer here is fantastic. For the main meal, I had a simple pasta which was good but dillan had shrimp Alfredo with crab cakes and his shrimp was not cleaned properly. The digestive tract was still there.

Customer service was POOR to say the least. The moment Jasmine (our waitress) waited on us she was not very nice but I know people have bad days so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. UNTIL after we finished eating she disappeared for about 25 minutes and then helped the table that came after us 3x another 15 minutes before I finally had to stop her for our check. She rolled her eyes and walked past me and handed our check to another waitress to give to us.

Note to file for those of you that think this is fast food it's not, good food prepared to order takes time to assembles allow yourself enough time to enjoy lol. I read some of the reviews and the complaints on the service and I thought I had unreasonable expectations I'm sure these short negative reviews were reactionary and are the type I usually ignore. Our server Corinne was pretty amazing she made it her mission to be attentive without being annoying and knew the menu and described all the dishes we inquired about perfectly so listen closely when she offers her recommendations, that's if you're lucky enough to get her section it's okay to ask for a specific servers you know. Any if you like the service or food let the manager know when he or she stops by the table.

This is a beautiful restaurant but in my opinion it needs to be lit up a little more the hell with the ambiance lighting I want to see what I'm eating, if you want to set a mood do it in the bar area. One more thing that was a little concerning was the floor it seemed a little slick I noticed this even though I had non-slip soles it was as if the same mop was used in the restaurant that was used in the kitchen.

The food - I loved it but being from Louisiana I'm sure there is some bias in that comment being I grew up eating this kind of food, but then again I'd call them out if it was anything else but authentic.

Shrimp and Crawfish Gumbo - a rare treat, it's not often I find this mixture of crustaceans paired up but it's was pure heaven. There are a few ways to judge gumbo and certainly taste is at the top of the list, but the color and texture are just as important in my opinion think what you want but this ain't soup so large chucks of veggies don't belong here. A good gumbo is fill with complex seasonings including cayenne and filé although I prefer to add the filé powder in my bowl. A good gumbo should never be ordered by the cup unless you're a toddler. This is the real deal and don't forget the Tabasco.

Shrimp and Tasso Pasta - I don't know who introduced pasta into Cajun Cuisine but I applaud them, you'd never find pasta in my mother's pantry but this has opened up a lot options. I grew up eating rice but pasta has taken this type of dish to the next level the shrimp were plentiful and worked well with the chiffonade smoked tasso (smoked seasoned pork) and the beautifully prepared sauce. I don't think you will ever regret ordering this one but the selections here are vast so l'm sure everyone will find something special - I know I'll be back at Copeland's when I'm in the area hope to see you there...

We were welcomed by several friendly staff when we arrived. We started our meal with a delightful appetizer of crab-stuffed beignets. There were 4 fried balls stuffed with a generous helping of crab meat served on top remoulade sauce. I ordered the garden chicken, which I highly recommend! It is delicious and it includes zucchini noodles. The chicken is delicious and the sauce is amazing. My husband ordered the chicken and eggplant Parmesan, which isn't on the menu, but they will always make it. He said it was delicious. I would highly recommend Copeland's.

Copelands has always been a long time favorite of mine, but that all changed today. I can spend time griping and complaining but I'll just summarize it. The employees need to appear to be happy and helpful even if they are not.
The food did not taste good and the presentation was not good. ordered items that we never received. no utensils to eat with. utensils are very old, ugly and worn out. The menu indicates a 20% charge for 10 or more people, but they apply the charge for our group of 8. I'll stop here to keep it short.

We were pretty on the fence if we were going to do dinner from being full from the weekend but decided to splurge later at night on my last night in the south. Food is a little bit pricier than most restaurants in the area. But they do have an excellent happy hour on weekdays with discounted martinis and appetizers. I think they do a lot of promotional events for holidays with discounts, a ladies 2 for 1 night on thursdays, breakfast buffets on weekends, etc. Oh, and they have a membership point system where you can save if you go here frequently.

For my dish I went with the lump crabcakes with zucchini basil pasta. Honestly didn't read the fine details and thought it was pasta with basil and zucchini instead of zoodles. But hey, I went in here feeling 'full' already so the zoodles (which were really just shredded sticks of zucchini) were a great mistake. The crabcakes were enormous and really delicious just really really salty. WOAH mama. I went through maybe 6 glasses of water digging through this. Also thought the zucchini noodles were a little bland and could have used more basil or a pesto flavor. The parmesan sauce kind of overwhelmed the dish but made it nice for dipping those delicious biscuits in.

My sister ordered the blackened chicken and that was pretty outstanding. I have no idea what the sauce and mushroom like stuffing it's accompanied with actually is but also delicious delicious artery clogging deliciousness. My sister's friend ordered a steak filet with a side of rice and beans and she said it was good but a little over cooked. We also took a slice of caramel pecan cheesecake to go and it was epic. So good that I didn't bother with taking a photo of it later.

The place is pretty elegant and swankier than I would imagine being inside with being near a shopping mall area. A genuinely nice place to go I imagine after work, with the family, date. . . . someone actually got proposed to while we were here and I thought it was a joke but I heard a scream "SHE SAID YES!" and lost track of what was happening. Only disappointing factor other than slight food preferences that could easily be changed, it took forever to get the bill paid and the place was pretty empty. Else-wise, I was impressed.

Food has always been consistent. We visited this restaurant 2x on our most recent visit to the area. The service we received each time was exceptional thanks to Marie and Brook.

We use to have a Copeland's in Maryland where we currently live and we miss it sooo much! Come back to MD Copeland's! #copelands

Stopped after work....the restaurant was nice and spacious inside and staff was friendly. Server was helpful in making recommendations. The interior was not overly fancy, but not-so casual ether.....I ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp. This is exactly what it sounds like.....crabmeat stuffed into breading at the end of shrimp. Cooked well and pretty darn tasty. As a side the dish came w/ beer battered fries. They were smaller steak-style fries.....honestly they were the perfect size. The portion was not all that large, but it really didn't need to be-it was adequate and filing. At the end of the meal I was enticed by Cheesecake King Cake....the cake was tasty, but nothing special to be honest. Overall, a good meal....worth a trip if you are in the area

LONG REVIEW WARNING:
Horrible!!! My friend and I went to this Copeland's today for late lunch early dinner and it was simply horrible. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Catfish Bordelaise which comes with a bed of creole shrimp rice. There was literally one shrimp. I asked for red beans and rice as my side which never came. I told girl who brought our food I was missing my side and she said ok twice and never brought it. Until the other server came to check on us another 20 minutes later. By the time I got the red beans and rice it had developed a film from sitting up so long


The crab meat was pretty nasty as well. My friend and I initially sat for about 20 minutes or so before anyone ever came to our table and asked about food before asking if we wanted beverages. The girl helping us said she saw us waiting & nobody helping so she jumped in. Okay? Then she was more interested in my nails rather than providing us service. I explained my frustrations to the manager CiCi and she did absolutely nothing. She said she would talk to the staff about the nasty food and said they were "revamping the staff"

In my experience if a customer has a problem offer them SOMETHING. Don't make excuses. It was pretty ridiculous and I was really annoyed because I left feeling unfulfilled and robbed. 1 out of 5 will not be back
