V našem muzeu naleznete rozsáhlé sbírky dokumentující vývoj mnoha technických oborů, přírodních a exaktních věd a průmyslu na území dnešní České republiky. Nejzajímavější a v řadě případech unikátní sbírkové předměty si můžete prohlédnout ve stálých expozicích i krátkodobých výstavách. Zájemci o důkladnější poznání dějin techniky a širších souvislostí mají k dispozici také bohatou knihovnu a archiv dějin techniky a průmyslu. Kromě stálých expozic a příležitostných výstav plní v oblasti dějin věd a techniky úkoly badatelské, popularizační a zábavné. Působí zde oddělení pro dějiny techniky, které provádí aktivní výzkum, jehož výsledky přináší v podobě publikací. Pořádá semináře a konference, z nichž některé mají mezinárodní charakter. Těšíme se na Vaši návštěvu!

Get a sense of the industrial prowess of Czechoslovakia: motorcycles, cars, planes, trains - they built them all. The main hall display is a feast for the eyes. The realisation of what sort of powerhouse Czechoslovakia was in the interbellum really hits you. All the greater news: Czechia retook that place largely, after regaining its freedom. One thing cannot be fixed alas: cars looked so much cooler in the past...

One of the highlights of my trip to Prague was the National Technical Museum (Národní technické muzeum). It was fantastic. The museum is quite large, with 7 floors (floors -3 to 3, with a floor 0), and including a quick lunch at the museum, I was there for nearly five hours.
The exhibits I saw were: Technology in the Home; Printing; Astronomy; Television Studio; Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Design; Photography; Chemistry Around Us; Measurement of Time; Transportation; Steam Engines in the Czech Lands; Metallurgy; Mining; and a temporary exhibit on Taiwan, which was in place of the Technology in Toys exhibit.
My favourite exhibits were the astronomy, time, and chemistry exhibits. The astronomy exhibit had really cool instruments, and I probably spent the longest in that exhibit. The Technology in the Home exhibit was pretty interesting as well, and had household appliances on display from the mid-19th century to present time. I didn't care too much for the Taiwan exhibit, although the display of ancient Chinese locks and keys was neat.
Overall, this is an amazing museum, and I highly recommend it. The only issue I had, however, was at the restaurant. Before I went to the museum, I checked on their website that they took credit card, which they did. However, for some reason, the restaurant took cash only, which was not mentioned on the website, nor were there any signs indicating this, so I only found out after I had ordered my food. And as I was towards the end of my trip in Prague, I was running low on cash. So beware about that, and bring cash just in case. Other things to note: there is no wi-fi, but it is wheelchair accessible.

The National Technical Museum takes you through a journey of technological advances. Now that might sound kind of boring but trust me it's not! The displays highlight the advances in transport, photography, film, architecture and even espionage.
I especially liked the transport room which housed Czech built planes, cars and motorcycles from the beginning of personal transport. Some of the exhibits are interactive and kids will have a particularly fun time learning the techniques spies used during the Cold War to pass or acquire information.
The museum lies on the outskirts of Prague but is easily accessible by tram. After weeks in Europe visiting fantastic art museums and historical monuments it was refreshing to learn about another topic!
Definitely pay a visit if you are in Prague.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Svein L.Oslo, Norsko43424524. 7. 2015
Good museum, with a lot of interesting sights. The layout of the museum made it easy to find your way around, and it was large enough to kill a couple of hours. The only drawback would have to be the lack of English texting on some exhibitions.
Well worth a visit, just remember to say yes and pay the extra 100 for the privilege of taking photos.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter G.San Mateo, Spojené státy1239283318. 5. 2017
Most of the information placards have a translation also in English, but not all. I'd place this museum up there with the technology museums in Berlin, Munich and Paris. There are replicas and restored aircraft, a few are the only known examples of their type. There is an extra 100 Czk for the use of a camera. The cafe wasn't bad, had a stew and soup and the price was reasonable. Be warned, the museum can get crowded with school groups. The astronomy and time keeping room are simply amazing; the age of some of the pieces is astonishing.

It's a huge museum with a great collection of Prague's and the world's evolution in technology. Ticket is quite cheap for the amount of content it provides.
