So, while in my short stay in Paris I wanted to meet some expats that spoke as much English as French and I wasn't just walking around a great city such as this without some manner of adult conversation.
A Meetup.com group has regular gatherings and I decided to join them at this club. Located in a part of town I hadn't visited yet even heard of it was ROCKING just walking to the place. Street after little street there were folks standing in the streets drinking, smoking and having an all around great time. Definitely a place I'm going to check out again when I return.
The bar/club itself is located in the basement......I think they call them cellars in Europe....and had a very old world feel. Ceilings looked like an old church and were quite high up, so it felt spaceous.
The bar is very small, but there is a good amount of seating considering the size and the staff were very friendly, though very limited in speaking English.
They had a 2 for 1 special, which was nuts but made for a more festive evening.
The DJ spinned some great dance tunes, but there was a video screen on a wall near them that did nothing but play videos from the 1980s?!?!?!?! I swear I was having a flash back to high school!!!
The DJs played some great music AND did not play it loud, so one could dance AND have a conversation, which seems to be lost on most American DJs.
They have a coat check for 2 euros.
Try and get there before 11pm as the both a line forms up the stairs and the place is packed very quickly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - E E.San Francisco, Spojené státy499149778612. 10. 2011
I only went here on a salsa night (can't speak for the other nights) and it was a lot of fun. There was so much energy on the cramped dance floor. The crowd was about 60/40 men to women and there were plenty of great dancers in attendance the night I went. Despite the gender ratios, there is no shortage of women to dance with if you know how to dance well. Women here were very polite and not snobby at all (which I did not expect at all).
As Christopher mentioned, the music here is mostly Cuban salsa and there are quite a bit of men here hanging around the edges looking to eye the next female they wish to dance wish and in some cases hit on. I wouldn't say it's unsafe here but women should be aware of the vibe here.
The edges around the dance floor can be tough to maneuver through because when this place is packed, there is enough room for about 60% of the people to fit on the dance floor. The lines for the restroom and bar can be quite long so come prepared.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christopher T.Manhattan, Spojené státy9960797. 1. 2011
I had so much fun here with my friend. It was all Cuban! Cuban music, Cuban people, yea..cuban.
In the middle of Paris and it was snowing outside but could have easily been humid out there and we're in Havana. The music was really good and the size of the dance floor was quite good.
All the men appeared to come single and just pick up the ladies and dance with one then grab another..amazing. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for something a bit different while visiting the city.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rudolph O.Paříž, Francie28218. 11. 2012
Mostly in agreement the others on this one
Good place to dance and get a strong drink
nice place to meet people of international flavor
in a neighborhood with plenty to do on a Friday/Saturday night
short walk from St.Michel if your interested
hard to find parking close though
recommend taking dinner close than taking your time walking to get there...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew H.Seattle, Spojené státy12960911615. 10. 2012
Not bad. It was small and crowded. 12 Euro entrance. 2 Euro obligatory coat check. 10 Euro drinks.
